" The Contorted Hermit will be benefical for good men everywhere; The knowledge from this is like drug for curing; The knowledge is to increase the accumulated good deeds; From this the honor of the King is announced to the sky and ground forever. " - Inscribed on the Chetuphon Temple walls. The arrival of Bhuddism in Thailand from India was accompanied by religious Holy sages "Rishis", ascetics who spent long periods in isolation and meditation. They maintained themselves with a series of breathing and movement exercises similar to Hatha Yoga, these exercises became known as Reusi dat Ton (Rishi stretching activity), and are know regaining popularity. This Thai Yoga is more gentle than hatha Yoga, is gently dynamic in nature and has a particular breathing technique at its heart which enables good flow of oxygen to all parts of the body. Daily practice of these simple exercises helps maintain flexibility, energy levels, clarity of mind , sight, hearing etc. Courses at Il centro are based on the approved exercises promoted by the Thai Ministry of Public health.
