Bowenwork(Bowtech) is the revolutionary method of treating ailments which has resulted from the lifelong work of Australian healing genius Thomas Bowen. It consists of very gentle rolling "moves" executed at specific points on the body. Bowen is very gentle, suitable for the very young and the very old alike. A typical Bowen session involves lying down fully clothed whilst the operator makes gentle moves over your muscles, leaving the room for pauses of up to 5 minutes between sets of "moves", this is to allow the energetic impulse generated by the "moves" to have a clear effect on the nervous system, allowing it to respond without interference from additional input. Bowen is thus the most minimal of bodywork practices. How it works is not altogether clear, but it seems to have a strong impact on the parasympathetic nervous system, allowing the body to 're-set' itself. Tom Bowen was apparently a man of few words, deeply religious, he stated that his work was a "gift from God", in his office was a plaque with the text quoted above.
