Thai Foot Massage TF01

The benefits of foot massage are well known, in Thailand foot massage is part of the ancient popular tradition of massage therapies to maintain health and vitality. This intensive 2 day (16 hour) course introduces the authentic foot reflexology massage as approved by the Thai Ministry of Education. The massage includes stimulating the fascia and tendons of the feet, ankles and lower legs and 24 reflexology points which refer to the internal organs,  using a special wooden stick .

Foot massage is an Ancient tradition with a history going back to the Ancient Egyptions, Indian and Chinese cultures and probably before. The feet absorb a lot of stress and strain during the day and probably it was the natural instinct to rub them which started the Art of Foot massage. Along the way it was noted that massaging the feet also improves the condition of other parts of the body, and so Reflexology (The Art of pressing to feet to relieve problems in the body) was born.

The diagram below indicated the basic principles of reflexology, that the there is a “mapping” of the organs and tissues of the body onto the soles of the feet, as if a blueprint was drawn on the feet, and mysterious connection made between the blueprint and the real body.

Reflexology in Thailand probably originated in southern China, and has developed into both a popular preventative health maintenance method and a more complicated clinical treatment method.

Here we will be teaching you the popular preventative massage and do not state that foot massage has medical benefits, always consult your Doctor if you suspect that you have an ailment.

This massage is great to promote relaxation, which in itself has great advantages.

In Thailand foot massage can be found in the home, the monastery,  in massage clinics and especially in the street markets.

As massage techniques vary considerably from village to village and school to school, what we teach is the approved sequence promoted by The Thai Institute of Traditional Medicine, under the auspices of the Thai Ministry of Public health.
